There has been a parvo virus case at one of our neighbouring clinics and we just wanted to take this opportunity to remind you to make sure your dog’s vaccinations are up to date. If your dog has not received a full set of vaccinations then they may be at risk of contracting parvo virus.
Parvo virus can be fatal and requires intensive treatment, including fluid therapy, pain relief, antibiotics and anti-emetics. The most common clinical signs of Parvo include vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy. Young and old dogs can contract the disease.
If you think your dog has parvo virus please call the clinic before coming in. We will test for Parvo virus in the carpark. Remember prevention is always the best treatment.
