The Chinese Crested is believed to originate from Africa where it was used by the Aztecs as a bed warmer. When sailors on Chinese trade ships discovered these little dogs they found them to be great ratters onboard their ships.
Appearance

Temperament
The Cresties are lively, outgoing little dogs, very affectionate with their owners and make great family pets, although children do need to be respectful of their minimal size and delicate skin. They should be well socialised as puppies with both people and other dogs as they are prone to timidity.
Life span
10 - 12 years
Care

Like humans, the Hairless will require veterinary recommended sunscreen during the summer to protect the skin and a warm coat during the cold months. They also require regular bathing as they can develop acne.
The Powder Puff will require frequent brushing to avoid tangles and mats. The Cresties are not known to shed and are rarely bothered by fleas.
Health concerns
Some Cresties are known to be prone to lamness in the limbs, luxating patella, and various eyes, dental and skin issues.
